CDP continues campaign to help global business decrease carbon footprint

15 January 2007

On 1 February the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) will be issuing its annual questionnaire which seeks to improve companies’ understanding of possible material impacts on the value of their investments driven by the following factors connected with climate change:

- Taxation and regulation
- Changes in weather patterns
- Technological innovations
- Shifts in consumer attitude and demand

The letter and questionnaire, designed by Rufus Leonard, will be sent to more than 2,000 of the world’s largest quoted companies and is the fifth such request (CDP5).  The CDP now represents 250 companies with investment worth over $28 trillion and is the largest registry of corporate greenhouse gas emissions in the world.

On previous occasions the CDP surveyed the FT500 companies, 45% of which completed the questionnaire in 2003; 60% in 2004 and 71% in 2005. An astonishing 960 companies reported on their emissions through CDP in 2006, see www.cdproject.net

Paul Dickinson, co-ordinator of the CDP commented, “Rufus Leonard has done amazing things in the last 15 years, and the Carbon Disclosure Project is one of them. Although we are an entirely independent charity, we have grown up with the advice, guidance and support of Rufus Leonard. Chancellor Merkel of Germany and Tony Blair applaud the success of CDP. The CDP Secretariat applauds Rufus Leonard. We could not have done it without you.”

CDP and Rufus Leonard Collaboration
Rufus Leonard has housed and supported the CDP in its Drill Hall offices since its inception in December 2000. Just in the past few weeks CDP has moved to new premises in the City. In addition to designing the CDP questionnaires, Rufus Leonard has designed and produced all previous CDP logos, reports and its website.
