Rufus Leonard briefed to get legal

23 March 2006

Rufus Leonard, the leading brand development agency, today announces the launch of a new name and visual identity for the Solicitors Pro Bono Group (SPBG), an independent charity that encourages and supports solicitors to participate in pro bono work.

Re-launching as LawWorks, SPBG have worked closely with Rufus Leonard over the past year to agree a more appropriate operating name and visual identity for the organisation.  The new brand identity is intended to give the organisation a new focus and a more inclusive image so as to better reflect the work in which it is engaged as well as encouraging  a new generation of lawyers to join its membership and sign up to the concept of pro bono.  A revised website has also been designed internally along with accompanying marketing collateral.

LawWorks aims to increase the provision of free legal advice to individuals and communities in need.  It provides excellent opportunities for young solicitors and lawyers to gain a well rounded skill set when starting off a legal career, and for older lawyers to give from the benefit of their wealth of knowledge and experience.

SPBG hired brand development experts Rufus Leonard to facilitate a brand review.  After an in-depth consultative period, which included a series of workshops that examined the objectives of the charity, its sector landscape, its ethos and potential attraction to the legal profession the name LawWorks was agreed.

Chris Wills, Client Partner at Rufus Leonard, explains:

“This organisation offers a fantastic service to individuals, communities and organisations in need of legal advice.  Lawworks became the clear choice for the organisation to adopt across its full service offering and was readily accepted by all concerned.  Once the decision on the name was made, we were left to create a new visual identity to accompany it so that the organisation could then roll it out across all of their marketing collateral.  The latest manifestation of this has been their new website.”

Robert Gill, at LawWorks, adds:

“The team at Rufus Leonard did a fantastic job at delving deep into our focus, aims and objectives and the end result ultimately reflects more closely what we’re good at – getting law to work for people.  We are immensely grateful for the time that they gave up to help us with this project.”

LawWorks also announces today that it has appointed Robert Gill as Chief Executive.  Robert has been on secondment from the Department of Constitutional Affairs for the last 9 months in the role of Acting Chief Executive.  Robert has decided to leave the Department and the Charity is very pleased to appoint him as Chief Executive from 1st April 2006.
